Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub FAQ

Can the USB 3.0 hub work with USB 2.0 devices?

Yes, our USB 3.0 hub is fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

A USB 2.0 device can work when connected to a USB 3.0 port but will still run at the speed of USB 2.0 technology. USB 2.0 supports a transfer speed of 480 Mbps while USB 3.0 supports up to 5 Gbps, which is 10 times faster.

Is the USB 3.0 hub compatible with MacBooks that only have USB-C ports?

Yes, MacBook Thunderbolt 3 ports are compatible with the USB protocol, so you can use a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect the hub to a MacBook with Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Can the bus-powered USB 3.0 hub work with a hard drive?

For a stable connection, it is not recommended to connect an external hard drive.

Do bus-powered USB 3.0 hubs support charging?

No, they can only be used to transfer data between the external USB devices and the host.

The built-in cable on the bus-powered USB 3.0 hub is too short. Can I use an extension cable?

The Anker Ultra Slim Hub is designed to be as portable as possible, so it is small, and the cable is short. You can buy a new USB 3.0 extension cable on Amazon.
