Anker USB-C to USB-C Cable FAQ

What is the difference between Thunderbolt 3.0/4.0 cable and regular USB-C to USB-C cable?

All Thunderbolt 3.0 cables also work as a regular USB-C cable, and all Thunderbolt 3.0 ports will also work as a regular USB-C port. However, not all USB-C cables are Thunderbolt 3.0 enabled. A Thunderbolt 3.0 device will not work with a cable that only supports USB protocol.

Additionally, the most important difference is data transfer speed. The maximum speed of Thunderbolt 3.0 is 40 Gbps, while the maximum speed of a regular USB-C to USB-C 2.0 is 480Mbps. Besides the data transfer speed, Thunderbolt 3.0 also supports DisplayPort video output and a 100W charging speed.

Will Anker USB-C to USB-C cable work with Android Auto in my car?

Yes, but please note that your device and the car's port must be USB-C compatible.

Does Anker USB-C to USB-C cable support video output?

We will apply for mandatory and necessary certificates according to the demands of different types of cables in their local markets. Rest assured that all of our cables meet the requirements of the USB-IF certificate.
