How do I determine my laptop's DisplayPort (DP) version? (General)

The DisplayPort version supported by your laptop, desktop computer, or tablet affects the resolution and refresh rate available when an external display is connected through an Anker dock. You can check your device's DisplayPort version in two ways:

Contact the device manufacturer or retailer.

If you use a Windows device, check its specifications and CPU generation for an indication of DisplayPort support.

-Devices with a 10th Generation or earlier Intel processor may support DP 1.2.

-Devices with an 11th Generation or later Intel processor may support DP 1.4.

-Workstation laptops with an NVIDIA GPU may support DP 1.4.

Not sure how to check your CPU generation?

Open "This PC" or "My Computer," select "Properties," and find the processor model number, highlighted below in bold and underlined:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-8850H CPU @ 2.60 GHz, 2.59 GHz
