Why Your 3M Adhesive May Not Be Secure and How to Fix It

1. Non-Reusability of Adhesive Tape

3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive tape is intended for single-use only. Once removed or peeled off, the adhesive loses its original bonding strength and cannot be reused. Our product uses genuine 3M VHB tape, which can achieve a bond strength of 100N or more after it sets for 48 hours.

2. Compatibility with Dashboard Surfaces

Surfaces that may cause adhesive failure:

• Waxed or polished dashboards

• Leather (genuine or suede-like) finishes

• Dirty or oily surfaces

• Aged or degraded dashboards

• Highly curved or uneven surfaces

Compatible surfaces for secure bonding:

• Smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces (e.g., painted plastic)

• Flat PU leather surfaces (non-textured)

• Flat areas behind electric vehicle (EV) touchscreens

3. Proper Installation Procedure

To achieve a strong and lasting bond:

• Verify dashboard material: Confirm it's one of the compatible surface types listed above.

• Clean the surface: Use an alcohol wipe or isopropyl alcohol to remove dust, oil, and residue.

• Apply firm pressure: Press the tape against the surface firmly for 1 minute to activate the adhesive.

• Let it rest: Allow the adhesive to set undisturbed for 48 hours before attaching any devices or applying pressure.

Note: Skipping these steps may result in weak adhesion or the product detaching prematurely.

4. Adhesion Strength Over Time

Bonding strength increases progressively after installation:

• Immediate adhesion: 15 - 20N

• After pressure application: 30N

• After 24 hours: 70 - 80N

• After 48 hours (fully bonded): 100N or higher
