Understanding Charging with Anker MagGo Qi2
The Anker MagGo Qi2 lineup has received official Qi2 certification, which enables it to provide up to 15W wireless charging for iPhone models 13 to 15, assuming they are updated to iOS 17.2 or later.
Conditions for 15W Charging
- Battery Level: To achieve 15W charging, the iPhone’s battery must be below 80%.
- Temperature: The iPhone’s temperature needs to be at or below 25°C. Above this temperature, the phone may limit power input for safety reasons.
- Charging Variability: Note that 15W is the maximum power. The actual charging rate may fluctuate during the charging process and will not consistently stay at 15W.
Verifying 15W Charging
- Using a Power Detection Tool: To accurately determine if your iPhone is in the 15W charging state, use a power detection tool like Power-Z. This tool measures the real-time power input from the adapter to the wireless charger. A display reading of 18-19W indicates a 15W charging state, considering an approximate conversion efficiency of 80%.
- Inaccuracy of Third-Party Apps: Avoid using third-party apps to measure power output. These apps are generally inaccurate due to restrictions from iOS 10 onwards, which prevent apps from accessing detailed iPhone battery information. As such, the values they provide are rough estimates and not reliable for confirming peak power.
